Stress Reduction Program - 8-week online program
This program is based on the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. John Julian has been a meditation teacher for 25 years, trained in MBSR, Mindful Self-Compassion and Compassion and Mindfulness therapies. He will be assisted by Jo Walz.
Stressed, anxious, sad? Take action. Engage in your own self-care. Learn to live a fulfilled and satisfying life, right now, today and into the future.
Some of the benefits of this program have been shown in the research evidence base as:
- Stress reduction
- Decreased medical symptoms
- Improved self-care
- Greater ability to manage anxiety and depression
- Loosening the grip of negative habits and thinking
- Improvement in symptoms of burnout
- Clearer recognition of when your attitude or mood is beginning to change so you can become less reactive.
- Discovery that difficult and unwanted thoughts and feelings can be seen from an altogether different perspective – a perspective that brings a sense of compassion and less judgment to the suffering you are experiencing.
- Improved sense of well-being: learn how to be present and appreciate the simple pleasures of everyday life, connect with yourself, and the experience of being alive.

Training for Therapists, Counsellors and Coaches – Expressions of interest called for
There are many issues in training people in compassion and mindfulness people. John is designing a new 8-session training program for therapists, counsellors and coaches using mindfulness and compassion in one-to-one work. The areas covered include the history, values and ethics around mindfulness and compassion; the uses with various client groups; the importance of personal practice and participant practices each week; mindfulness techniques; compassion, its three flows and techniques and benefits; movement practices with an overview of research; a reading program for future development. This program will be available in 2023.

Sunday Group
The primary meditation is around the 16 mindfulness exercises we just finished considering over 20 plus weeks. Now, we are considering and exploring the ethical and wisdom aspects of mindfulness with a strong influence from Buddhism flavouring the classes while also considering the latest neuroscience where applicable. We will, in future, also explore some aspects of these issues using abridged meditations from Buddhism and gradually develop a greater understanding of these approaches and the Buddhist concept of well-being.
